Diego Hernandez is MAM’s Benefit Advocate/Navigator Caseworker and specializes in helping people apply for benefits such as Medicaid, SNAP food benefits and Harris Health Financial Assistance Program.
He is helping a mother of three children begin the application process to apply for emergency approval of the Harris Health "Gold Card." Alice lived in Montgomery County and moved to Houston when she was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. She left her children in Montgomery with her sister’s family, while she came to live with an aunt and uncle. Before finding MAM, she felt like all of the places she went for help closed their doors to her. Diego is working to help her complete all the forms necessary to receive health care benefits and will continue to follow up with Alice in hopes that her treatment will begin soon.
