MAM Update Regarding COVID-19 (Coronavirus)

Dear MAM Friends,

Out of the growing concern for our clients, staff, and community, we have been closely monitoring the evolving Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation. We recognize that this is a period where many of our clients need us most, and we will continue to make every effort to ensure that their needs are safely met. MAM is currently open and will continue to serve the community to the best of our ability while continuing to take steps to increase safety and mitigate the spread of the virus. Following guidance of health officials, MAM has decided to cancel all ESL classes and other group activities with 25 or more people though March 31st. Where possible, we will make virtual learning opportunities available to our students. MAM will also cancel our March Prayer Breakfast and indefinitely postpone our Volunteer Appreciation dinner. Staff and volunteers who are at high risk for exposure will be working from home. We will continue to monitor the situation beyond that time and make determinations about later activities.

We continue to restrict individuals who are sick, have traveled to high risk areas or have been in contact with a person who has tested positive for the virus from entering our facilities.

We have activated a help line (713-468-4516 ext. 177) and email to be able to provide services remotely as we are able.

Other client services have been redesigned to reduce the size of group gatherings in our lobby and classrooms and ensure the ability for participants to remain at the recommended distances to mitigate spread risk.

We will begin additional cleaning measures this weekend, ensuring all public areas are fully disinfected on a regular basis. Disinfectant wipes and hand gel are available in our lobby and store entrance, and information about Coronavirus symptoms and prevention is posted throughout our facilities.

We will continue to monitor this unprecedented situation as it evolves and make adjustments or extensions as necessary, balancing the safety and needs of our staff, clients, and community.

Thank you for your commitment to our mission and for your concern.

We wish you good health in these uncertain times.
