Why it matter?

Yet despite significant economic growth in our country, prosperity has not been shared by all. Nearly half of Houstonians are working, but still unable to make ends meet.

Too many families spend their time and energy surviving instead of getting ahead.

Houston statistics from 2025:

  • Houston’s poverty rate is over 21%, one of the highest among major U.S. cities.

  • 31% of local households work hard but can’t afford basic needs.

  • 13–14% live below the poverty line.

Poverty is complex.
It is not just about money.

Exiting poverty requires:

• Personal agency

• Relationships

• Resources

• Time

When stability is possible, hope becomes possible.

"MAM really helped me to survive and to get my life back in order. I didn't have confidence when I walked through the doors. I have confidence now that I can do it."
